‘Inoteca, an intimate and hip wine bar on Rivington and Ludlow, offers delicious choices of foods, wine and cheeses. Be prepared to wait since no reservations are accepted this popular neighborhood gem, but know that you will soon be presented with a wonderful wine list to begin your meal.
‘Inoteca has numerous small plates to be shared. Begin with your choice of one ($3) to seven ($16) bruschetta with toppings such as pesto or tapenade. My favorite and a must-get is the Truffle Egg Toast, an egg cooked within a large slice of bread and cooked with truffles. Saying that I mopped my plate does not do it justice.
Also taste some of the salads, light and mostly moderately priced. The beets with orange, mint and hazelnuts as well as the grilled calamari salads are light and fresh. They go perfectly with any of the Panini sandwiches ($11). Sample the prosciutto with fig mostarda and gorgonzola cheese, or the soppressata with tapenade and goat cheese. Be sure to check out the impressive cheese list, and order anywhere from one cheese ($5) to nine ($21) to complement any meal.
